Procurement

To enhance the customer experience and support improved procurement processes at MSU, University Procurement and Logistics is pleased to announce procurement policy and guidance updates that became effective May 1, 2024. These changes will allow employees to have more confidence in their role within the procurement process.
  • Clearer delineation between policy and guidance
  • Clarity around the thresholds and requirements for micro-purchases (less than $25,000), small purchases ($25,000-$249,999.99), and large purchases ($250,000 or more)
  • Updates to the Single and Sole Source justification process that ensure a proper approval flow within the requesting unit
  • Articulation of the factors that may influence purchase complexity and the resulting impact on purchase requisition timelines and customer service expectations
  • Guidance on how Procurement facilitates the university’s purchasing relationship with suppliers, as well as what is and is not allowable when working with suppliers at the unit level
