From emergency financing via the Lease Purchase Program to personal use shipping, University Procurement and Logistics provides a wide variety of services to our university stakeholders.

Lease Purchase Program
Administered by University Procurement and Logistics (UPL), this program provides a financing option for departments that is ideal for emergency situations or unanticipated equipment purchases.

Supply Chain Analytics
Supply Chain Analytics assists UPL—as well as the MSU community—in making informed business decisions, using data generated through procurement and logistics activities.

Warehouse Storage
Warehouse Services offers MSU departments heated storage space in its secure warehouse.

Other Services + Fees
Logistics and Warehouse Services offer Event Material Management, Hamper Rental, and many more fee-based services to the university community.

Upcoming unit reorganization

The Office of the Executive Vice President for Administration (EVPA) has announced an upcoming reorganization of UPL. Effective July 1, 2025, the reorganization aims to align UPL operations with the university’s evolving needs, address the unit’s operating deficit, and support long-term financial sustainability.

UPL to close for winter break

University Procurement and Logistics will be closed in alignment with the university's extended winter break from Tuesday, December 24, 2024, through Wednesday, January 1, 2025. We will reopen and all services will resume (with potential delays) on Thursday, January 2, 2025

  • How do I request to use the UPL Lease Purchase Program?

    When creating a purchase requisition, include a message in the Notes and Attachments section stating the order is to be purchased through the UPL Lease Purchase Program. Indicate if there is a portion of the total that is to be funded and how much, and how long you would like to lease the equipment (usually three to five years).

    You can estimate costs by using a smartphone mortgage app. Or, you may call our office for estimates at (517) 355-1700.

  • What can UPL's Lease Purchase Program funds be used for?
    UPL's Lease Purchase Program provides a financing option for departments that is ideal for emergency situations or unanticipated equipment purchases.

    Only tangible items—such as copiers, vehicles, and office furniture—may be purchased through this program. Intangible expenses such as services, licenses, shipping, and training are not allowed, nor is equipment that was purchased outside of the Finance System (KFS).

  • How do I request Supply Chain Analytics' assistance?
    Complete and submit a Project Request form to our Supply Chain Analytics team!
  • How can our department use UPL's hamper rental service?

    Departments can request the use of one or more of UPL's hampers by submitting our Hamper Request form. These hampers offer a convenient solution for moving (or temporarily storing) office materials. 

    Hampers are not to be used for recycling materials. Please contact MSU Recycling for requests of this manner.
