FedEx + UPS Shipments

To take advantage of exclusive contracted pricing with FedEx and UPS, university employees must sign up for a desktop shipping account through UPL's Mail Services team. With a desktop shipping account, departments will have exclusive access to:

  • Savings (up to 80%) thanks to MSU contracted pricing
  • Live shipment tracking
  • Immediate access to shipment history
  • Electronic address books
  • Address list import ideal for large mailings
  • Shipping expenses charge back to designated departmental account
  • Shipment receipts

Preparing to ship

When shipping departmental packages through UPS or FedEx's desktop shipping applications, you are responsible for:

  • proper packing, marking, weighing, and addressing
    • Note: FedEx and UPS will not deliver to P.O. boxes
  • complete and accurate documentation and customs requirements
  • referencing shipment to an internal university account

Hazardous materials may be shipped via desktop shipping if the proper Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) certification has been acquired.
