FedEx + UPS Shipments

University employees who process outbound shipments are encouraged to sign up for desktop shipping accounts through UPL's Mail Services team. Departments will have exclusive access to:

  • Lower shipping rates, via MSU negotiated contracts
  • Live shipment tracking
  • Immediate access to shipment history
  • Electronic address books
  • Address list import ideal for large mailings
  • Shipping expense charge back to designated departmental account
  • Receipts for shipments

Preparing to ship

When shipping departmental packages through UPS or FedEx's desktop shipping applications, you are responsible for:

  • proper packing, marking, weighing, and addressing
    • Note: FedEx and UPS will not deliver to P.O. boxes
  • complete and accurate documentation and customs requirements
  • referencing shipment to an internal university account

Hazardous materials may not be shipped via desktop shipping.
